With a rich academic and research career spanning over six decades, he has earned international acclaim for his contributions to <strong data-start=\"648\" data-end=\"677\">natural product synthesis<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"711\" data-end=\"744\">eco-conscious reaction design<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"747\" data-end=\"1122\">He holds <strong data-start=\"756\" data-end=\"793\">postdoctoral research fellowships<\/strong> from two globally reputed institutions \u2014 the <strong data-start=\"839\" data-end=\"878\">University of Arizona, Tucson (USA)<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"887\" data-end=\"931\">Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Prague<\/strong>. He is also a recipient of prestigious research fellowships including the <strong data-start=\"1006\" data-end=\"1035\">DAAD Fellowship (Germany)<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1040\" data-end=\"1075\">UGC National Fellowship (India)<\/strong>, underscoring his global academic recognition.<\/p><p data-start=\"1124\" data-end=\"1522\">Even today, at the age of 90, Prof. Paknikar remains an active force in chemical research and industrial innovation. He continues to collaborate with leading <strong data-start=\"1282\" data-end=\"1323\">national and international industries<\/strong> as a consultant, applying his deep knowledge of organic mechanisms and clay catalysis to solve real-world industrial challenges in <strong data-start=\"1455\" data-end=\"1468\">fragrance<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1470\" data-end=\"1488\">pharmaceutical<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"1494\" data-end=\"1513\">green chemistry<\/strong> sectors.<\/p><p data-start=\"1524\" data-end=\"1929\">His academic journey began in India with early years of research at the <strong data-start=\"1596\" data-end=\"1643\">Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay<\/strong>, after which he moved to <strong data-start=\"1669\" data-end=\"1684\">Goa in 1970<\/strong>, setting roots in the scenic capital of Panaji. Over the next four decades, he played a pivotal role in shaping the academic landscape of Goa, especially through his contributions to <strong data-start=\"1868\" data-end=\"1886\">Goa University<\/strong>, where he served in key positions such as:<\/p><p data-start=\"1933\" data-end=\"1970\"><strong data-start=\"1933\" data-end=\"1970\">Vice Chancellor of Goa University<\/strong><\/p><p data-start=\"1973\" data-end=\"2016\"><strong data-start=\"1973\" data-end=\"2016\">Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences<\/strong><\/p><p data-start=\"2019\" data-end=\"2058\"><strong data-start=\"2019\" data-end=\"2058\">Head of the Department of Chemistry<\/strong><\/p><p data-start=\"2060\" data-end=\"2206\">Under his leadership, the university expanded its research capabilities and fostered a generation of science scholars and chemistry professionals.<\/p><p data-start=\"2208\" data-end=\"2576\">Despite retiring from formal academic positions in 1995, Prof. Paknikar never stepped away from his passion. Instead, he chose to stay intellectually active\u2014continuing research, guiding students, writing papers, and participating in international conferences. His enduring curiosity and commitment to chemistry serve as an inspiration to students and scientists alike.<\/p><p data-start=\"2578\" data-end=\"2890\">His contributions have been recognized by the scientific community both in India and abroad.
